Speak Right is Babington's dedicated oral English programme — designed specifically to develop the speaking and listening skills that children need to communicate confidently in English.
The programme uses a variety of methods to help children become fluent and expressive speakers. These include theme-based lessons, role plays, storytelling, group discussion, pronunciation work and structured conversation activities.
Children who join Speak Right quickly develop a stronger, clearer and more natural English speaking voice — with the vocabulary, grammar and confidence to express themselves in any situation.

Programme Structure
Clear, measurable outcomes at every level — from Beginner through to Advanced.
Children focus on acquiring new vocabulary and phrases and should know all basic sentence structures by the end of the level.
By the end of Beginner:
Speaking
- Can introduce themselves and talk about family, daily routines and likes/dislikes.
- Can produce basic sentences with the correct word order.
- Can participate in simple guided conversations with teacher support.
Listening
- Can understand simple instructions and short spoken passages.
- Can identify key words and main ideas from short audio clips.
Children expand their vocabulary and learn to build more complex grammar structures, gaining confidence in spoken communication.
By the end of Elementary:
Speaking
- Can describe pictures, tell short stories and express opinions.
- Can use a range of tenses including past, present and future.
- Can participate in group discussions with increasing independence.
Listening
- Can follow short presentations and conversations on familiar topics.
- Can answer comprehension questions about audio passages.
Children refine grammar, tackle more nuanced vocabulary and start speaking more fluently on a wider range of topics.
By the end of Intermediate:
Speaking
- Can give short prepared and spontaneous presentations.
- Can use idiomatic expressions and varied sentence structures naturally.
- Can debate and express and defend opinions clearly.
Listening
- Can understand native-speed speech on familiar and unfamiliar topics.
- Can take notes and respond to spoken information accurately.

Assessment & Placement
Students are placed based on their current speaking ability, not their age or school year. All new students receive a complimentary 30-minute oral assessment to ensure they are placed in the class that will challenge and support them most effectively.
